With the American history being a complex and multilayered cloth where every piece has its importance, few among them can be considered to be as important as Washington, D. C. With political and cultural significance, the capital of the United States is a symbol of power and aspirations of the country. From monuments that are famous all over the world to historical significance of the place to its vibrant atmosphere, Washington D. C. draws people from different parts of the world to wander through its streets and feel the spirit of this wonderful city.

The National Mall:

On its location, it is impossible not to begin with the focal point of Washington, D. C. , the National Mall, a vast piece of land surrounded by some of the country’s most remarkable features. Here, the statue-like structure of the Washington Monument observed soaring from where one might view a city and as a monolithic structure of marble of the towering obelisk type this pointed monument of freedom and democracy provides expansive view of the city. Till this day, the imposing structure of the Lincoln Memorial stands close by to introduce the Spirit of Freedom and the Great Emancipator, Abraham Lincoln with his powerful Gettysburg Address that inspires all citizens to embrace justice for all.

Cultural Treasures:

Nonetheless, Washington, D. C. has so much more to offer than merely the Mall — for one, the city’s museums are among the best in the world, and its neighborhoods are rich with energy, vibrancy, and multiculturalism. The Smithsonian Institution comprising a large number of museums and galleries gives the visitors a look at the past, at the present and at the future of the country and illustrating aspects of art, history, science and technology. On the same note, Georgetown possesses historic streets that brim with the history and moving displays of a city with the Adams Morgan corridors that features an entwining of a city that embodies the past and the present.

City of Contrasts:

Nevertheless, despite elegant appearance and historical importance, Washington DC is not only just monuments and political centers but also a unique city with inhabitants from all over the world and diverse culture. Some of the most colorful areas of the city are Capitol Hill and, of course, the really artsy area of Dupont Circle: Washington, D. C. , the place of contrast and divisions, of tradition and modernity.

Seat of Political Power:

However, it is important to have a closer look at the context that is directly associated with Washington, D. C. — as the political capital of the United States. Walking down a street or simply gazing at the towering structures such as the Capitol Building or White House, one cannot avoid the powerful and authoritative feel emanating from the city, which is a powerful symbol of democratic values and the rights as well as responsibilities of the American people.

Conclusion:

All in all, Washington, D. C. is not simply a city, but the national heart and soul of a determined, striving country. Washington D. C. is one of the worlds most visited capitals, famous for its attractions, historical significance and warm welcoming atmosphere and if one was to set foot in the country and visit this city would barely go a day without recalling what they saw and the friendliness of the people in this place.
